The New Year began with a rise in the price of bread
21 January 2011

Prices for bakery products in many regions of Ukraine in January 2011 began to increase. First of all, this is due to the fact that the state stopped supplying cheap flour.

The government decree regulating the sale of preferential flour from the Agrarian Fund for companies that produce “social” bread is no longer valid. He is scheduled to be accepted only at the end of January. When it comes into force is unknown. Until the supplies of state flour are resumed, Ukrainian bakers need to buy it at market prices, which are much higher. The difference in price is 500 hryvnia per 1 ton.

In addition, in the New Year transportation of raw materials and finished goods has risen in price, wages have increased in production, which could not but affect the cost of bread. A slight increase in the payroll in January 2011, a rise in the price of gasoline and gas for the industrial segment: all these factors have caused the Ukrainian bakers to reconsider their pricing policies.
